In fact they kind of started the whole Nouvelle Burger Renaissance or whatever you want to call it. Just ask a local. Oh and they do room service too. Rumor has it that Fred Astaire loved to play the rooftop miniature golf course back in the day. Today its our rooftop lounge Rare View with bar beds private party space your favorite adult beverages and did we mention the views. I would not recommend this hotel to someone looking for a four star hotel. We arrived to the hotel and there was no one to help us with four big suitcases. We were given a room in the fourth floor overlooking Lexington Ave. When we tried to turn the AC on to air the room, they told us that the units were not on because it was not hot enough in New York. Their recommendation: "Open the windows!." If you have ever been in NY on a main avenue or street you know it is impossible to sleep with windows open. The noise from Emergency vehicles or just street noise makes it unbearable. Also, this is not a response I would have ever expected from a four star hotel. They did change our room the next day to an "inside room"on the 9th floor. Inside room means that you look out the window to stare at a brick wall - no kidding! This second room was very small and again did not represent our expectations. Personnel were indifferent. In conclusion, I would not stay or recommend this hotel at all. Clean, pleasant staff, very helpful concierge and good bed/shower. Very quiet room. Fire alarm went off in the room because of the shower. customer rating 4.5 out of 5 Excellent location. Lobby/check-in area: Holiday Inn light; somewhat dismal. The check-in clerk said they were very over-booked and that a room with two beds was unavailable. The upgraded room, a suite, was excellent. I had to pad an additional charge, however, to get 2 beds.
